What is the GRDC Data Catalogue (GRDC-DC)?

The Grains Research Development Corporate Data Catalogue (GRDC-DC) is the central location for finding GRDC sponsored or owned data assets across the Australian research landscape.

Does the GRDC-DC store any data?

No. The GRDC-DC is a Data Catalogue. Similar to how a library catalgoue stores records about books, the GRDC Data Catalogue stores records, or metadata, about data assets.

Key metadata, such as the name, description and location for each data asset is stored within the catalogue. Where possible, additional information such as locations, keywords and authors is also copied from their original locations.

Where does data recorded in the GRDC-DC come from?

At present, records about relevant data are copied from the CSIRO Data Portal and the Australian Research Data Commons Research Data Australia catalogue.

GRDC plans to automate the harvesting of metadata from other sources in future,
